Here are some quick tips and simple how to replace the default ubuntu repositories Maverick Meerkat into local repository residing in Indonesia. The aim is to speed up the installation process, system and software updates in Ubuntu 10.10 because the location of the repository are in Indonesia (IIX Network).
There are several lists of local repository that can be used, but the list of repositories that I will not discuss here, but I will discuss in next article.

List of local repository ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat

Cuman This time I want to give simple tips for the novice users in particular ubuntu linux, how do I change the default repository to a local repository Indonesia.

How to change the local repository, it can also be applied to other debian based linux distro. It is assumed that the repository would I use here is.
  1. deb http://dl2.foss-id.web.id/ubuntu/ maverick main restricted universe multiverse
  2. deb-src http://dl2.foss-id.web.id/ubuntu/ maverick main restricted universe multiverse
  3. deb http://dl2.foss-id.web.id/ubuntu/ maverick-updates main restricted universe multiverse
  4. deb-src http://dl2.foss-id.web.id/ubuntu/ maverick-updates main restricted universe multiverse
  5. deb http://dl2.foss-id.web.id/ubuntu/ maverick-security main restricted universe multiverse
  6. deb-src http://dl2.foss-id.web.id/ubuntu/ maverick-security main restricted universe multiverse

     1. We recommend that you first backup respository file located in the default ubuntu sources.list file.          You can use the following directions:

    1. $ Sudo cp / etc / apt / sources.list / etc / apt / sources.list.backup

    2. Then edit the sources.list file (not source.list.backup) with a command like below.

    1. $ Sudo nano / etc / apt / sources.list

Just delete all the existing text, and please replace the repository of the local server which we prepared earlier, then save (save).

    3. After sources.list was replaced, the last step to do update (renewal) by the command.

    1. $ Apt-get update

In this stage of his process will depend on your internet connection, if the connection faster then this repository update process will be quick.

    good luck
